Just listing music on IPod and though of writing an article on this beauty. I got an IPod Video (30 GB) and IPod nano (2 GB). Both are excellent and can easily handle my whole collection. Before that I used to manage with a Sony cd player (I still loves this one). So I need to carry my favourite CD’s and extra battery’s. IPod indeed changed they way music is now played. If we take an IPod in hand it looks like a cigar box, which is also as addictive as a cigar. A cigar case can hold fewer cigars; but this baby can handle 75000 songs.
Design – It’s sleek and with minimal buttons on body. This again matches with other apple family products. Nobody in world thought this tiny master piece will change the whole world. Looking carefully, you will be amazed to see that it doesn’t even have a ‘shut down’ button. I wonder if this design was given to Microsoft Vista developers, what would be output (Vista comes with amazing 9 options to shutdown your PC, if you haven’t read the article, get some time and do read this one http://moishelettvin.blogspot.com/2006/11/windows-shutdown-crapfest.html). The best part is that while designing it, they never followed or looked traditional music players. Its simple and you never required a manual to understand its operation. While how to copy music into IPod? Use ITunes - to buy and download songs, pod casts. But frankly it is not as simple as IPod.
Zune Vs IPod – There is another copy product from Microsoft. I don’t blame Microsoft for that; they are here to earn money. Then it doesn’t matter if they get this from copying other products. They try to copy Vista from Mac and then Zune from IPod. But still they are the best when it comes to acquire market and business. I haven’t personally seen Zune but read reviews on various sites. Personally I don’t want to compare the great IPod with any new product, IPod is pioneer and others will follow them in design and ideas. New designers might add few things which are not their in IPod. One feature which I really like from Zune is FM transmitter, which allows you the play radio. Again you can also read user reviews on various sites.
Jonathan Ive - If you own IPod you must know this guy. He is the designer of IPod. He had won various awards for his designs with apple. You can read various articles about his designs with apple. http://observer.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,6903,1111276,00.html
